In Other News…

*WAVES* Hi! It’s been a while. How is everyone? Keeping busy now that we’re into fall? Had your pumpkin spice yet? (I’m building up to it. There will be hot chocolate…as soon as the temperature gets out of the 70s).

You’d never know it by my frequency, but I actually quite enjoy these posts. It’s a place for me to reflect on stuff I’ve read/watched lately, as well as just put down my thoughts. I also love connecting and have been trying to get tons better about responding to comments. So keep me accountable. Comment on the blog, and help me stay on track to comment back.

I don’t remember when I did what, so a quick recap of cool things of late.

-I redid my homepage on this site so it’s static, rather than blog posts
-I rewrote my about page and love it.
-I’m teaching a class with Savvy Authors in a couple of weeks and have a blog post going up there next week.
-My bestie is having a baby, and I need recommendations for loud things I can send because I’m the “fun aunt.”
-The boyfriend is back to the office a couple of days a week. This doesn’t thrill me, but it also means there are two days a week where I’ll get honest-to-gods work done.
A few books I’ve read lately that weren’t to review or for work:
cover of Sal and Gabi Break the Universe cover of Nobody’s Baby But Mine
cover of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes cover of Wicked Bond

And movies:

The big news…I finally saw Jumanji: The Next Level! Dug out a prepaid Visa I had lying around, went to Target, bought my birthday present to myself…and then watched it 3 times in 1 week because it. Was. That. Good! If you haven’t, go watch it. In fact, here’s the link to make it super easy.

And while I’m here, go watch the first one too.

You have your homework.

Next up: Halloween movies. Haunted Mansion, Scooby Doo, Halloween Town, and Casper (if I can talk the boyfriend into it) are on the table, and I rented the Disney Channel original movie Under Wraps. Those kids look a lot younger than they used to.

Okie, I think that’s about it for now. Everyone stay well, read lots of books, and eat lots of candy for Halloween.

And comment. Keep me accountable, guys.

Stay in the Loop!

  1. Jumanji was done so well. I loved the first one and the original. I wasn't sure I would like a new one but I can't get over how awesome it is and we watch it every time it is on TV.
This time of year is always my favorite for all the fun spooky stuff. I have been watching Stuff on Disney + the last few days but also watching The Haunting of Bly Manor. So a little super spooky and a little fun spooky! :)

I hope you have a great week, Mary! Happy Reading!

    1. The original Jumanji actually freaked me out, and it took me forever to see the 2016 one. But when I finally did, I was hooked.

  2. I also like Jumanji! You can't help but watching it with a smile on your face. All of them.

I like your home page! I followed your user profile and it landed me there. That's nice with enough info. Well done!

I also enjoy The Sunday Post. It's the only weekly feature I really do try to do once a week. Like you say, it helps you to keep track of where you are and what you've done.

Hope to chat to you soon again, thanks for stopping by my blog!

    1. Thanks for coming by! And thank you so much for the home page feedback. I always wonder how on Earth it looks to people who aren't me. :)

  3. Congrats on getting stuff done on your blog! I know I always put off improvements as much as humanly possible.
You've reminded me I need to watch A Nightmare Before Christmas, that's my favorite Halloween movie, yes I am a huge scaredy-cat I can't watch horror movies

    1. Hah! I'm a scaredy-cat too. My Halloween movie collection includes Disney's Halloween Town, Halloween Town 2, and Haunted Mansion. As well as Scooby Doo, Casper, and some more wonderfully non-scary ones. No shame.

  4. We own all three Jumanji movies in my Prime library now. My kids, the Royals and heck we love them. The blog looks nice. Nope, I haven't had a pumpkin spice latte yet we haven't gone out anywhere to get one... and I prefer them when the temps dip lower. Hope your week is amazing!

    1. Thanks!

I'm hoping the end of the latest Jumanji means another one's coming. I'm okay with all the sequels for those movies, as long as they do them right.

I'm feeling a hot chocolate coming my way today. Pumpkin spice can wait.

  5. I haven't seen the new Jumanjis but I'll get to them at somepoint.
As for your upcoming halloween themed movies - I approve! I'll be watching all of those in the coming weeks! :)

    Have a good week.
